Bye Parula – KISSBURN
Bye Parula are back with “KISSBURN”, the lead single from their forthcoming album Something Out of Nothing, due June 5 via Secret City Records. It’s a disco-funk track built around falsetto choruses, wah-wah guitar, and a character who’s somewhere between charming and delusional — pursuing someone with total confidence and zero self-doubt. Singer and bassist Loïc Calatayud-Sola puts it plainly: “‘KISSBURN’ is told from the perspective of someone who is flirting with or pursuing a person they are obsessed with. This person is confident, perhaps sexy, perhaps ridiculous, perhaps both”.
The album was produced by Robbie Kuster (Flore Laurentienne, Patrick Watson) and mixed by Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals). Collaborators include Elisapie, Adèle Trottier-Rivard of Bibi Club, Morgan Moore, and François Lafontaine of Karkwa. Bye Parula is Calatayud-Sola (South of France) on bass and vocals, Sebastián Riquelme (Chile) on guitar, and Sergio D’Isanto (Italy) on drums — three persons who found each other in Montreal and started playing together in 2020.
